About this resource

This PDF resource provides information relating to death and dying practices of different Asian cultures (Cambodians, Chinese, Indians, Japanese, Vietnamese) and religions (Buddhism, Hinduism, Sikhism, Islam).

However, it is important to note, when dealing with culturally diverse communities there are many religious and cultural beliefs that need to be considered when caring for someone at the end of life. The primary source of information regarding the care of the individual or the person’s body is the patient, close friends and their family. It is essential assumptions are not made and that in every case, the patient and family are consulted about these arrangements in advance, where possible.
