Your Voice | Feedback on our draft Strategy | Ministry for Ethnic Communities
The Ministry for Ethnic Communities invites feedback from the ethnic communities on their draft Strategy to guide their work over the next four years. They are developing actions to lift the wellbeing of ethnic communities. They are particularly keen to know if they are on the right track, what emphasis they should place on their proposed actions, and how the Ministry could work with communities to achieve the desired goals.
About the draft strategy
In April and May this year, the Minister for Diversity, Inclusion and Ethnic Communities, Hon Priyanca Radhakrishnan, collated views from hundreds of people about their views on what the new Ministry should focus on first in order to have the biggest impact for ethnic communities.
The following are the four strategic priorities and goals for the Ministry endorsed by Cabinet as the Ministry’s priorities over the next few years:
- Strategic priority 1: Taking action to promote the value of diversity and improve inclusion of ethnic communities with the wider society
- Goal 1: New Zealanders value diversity and actively include ethnic communities across all spheres of public life
- Strategic priority 2: Ensuring equitable provision of, and access to, government services for ethnic communities
- Goal 2: Ethnic Communities have access, and experience positive outcomes from high quality public services
- Strategic priority 3: Developing and supporting initiatives to improve economic outcomes and continue to make a strong contribution to New Zealand’s economy
- Goal 3: Ethnic Communities are fully employed and continue to make a strong contribution to New Zealand’s economy
- Strategic priority 4: Working to connect and empower ethnic community groups
- Goal 4: Ethnic Communities are connected, empowered and flourishing
They are seeking feedback on the draft strategy between Monday, 27 September and Friday, 5 November 2021.
