Religious Diversity Centre

The Religious Diversity Centre is a national centre of educational and research excellence fostering an appreciation for and understanding of religious diversity amongst all New Zealanders.

“Our country is the 19th most religiously diverse country out of 232 countries in the world. The value of religious diversity needs to be consciously and positively developed. It can then be an enormous positive resource for social harmony and cohesion instead of becoming a threat or challenge.”

— Prof. Paul Morris, Religious Studies, Victoria University of Wellington.

The Religious Diversity Centre is pleased to announce its 2018 classes in the 'Raising Religious Literacy' series entitled: “DISCOVERING RELIGIOUS DIVERSITY: Exploring the diverse religious traditions contributing to New Zealand society?” Learn about the history, development and contemporary practice of the world’s major religions and ‘isms’ throughout 2018.

Each 2018 Term will have a different focus and cover different material. Terms 1 and 2 will focus on the history and development of the world’s main faith traditions, while Terms 3 and 4 will focus on Selected Topics in the Contemporary Practice of each of the major world religions.
