Asian Public Health in Aotearoa | The Asian Network Incorporated
The Asian Network Incorporated (TANI) has launched its new publication “Asian Public Health in Aotearoa” in October. This report is a review of key public health issues affecting Asian peoples in Aotearoa New Zealand.
The findings highlighted:
- Racism against Asians in NZ as high
- Physical health varies among Asian ethnic groups
- Mental health is a key concern
- Service usages is low
Recommendations and opportunities include:
- A plan for Asian health in NZ is needed
- More targeted services and a more culturally appropriate workforce are required
- Increasing engagement and accessibility is imperative for increasing service usage
- Improve data analysis, and reporting to get a better understanding of any issues
