Asian Public Health in Aotearoa | The Asian Network Incorporated

The Asian Network Incorporated (TANI) has launched its new publication “Asian Public Health in Aotearoa” in October. This report is a review of key public health issues affecting Asian peoples in Aotearoa New Zealand.

The findings highlighted:

  • Racism against Asians in NZ as high
  • Physical health varies among Asian ethnic groups
  • Mental health is a key concern
  • Service usages is low

Recommendations and opportunities include:

  • A plan for Asian health in NZ is needed
  • More targeted services and a more culturally appropriate workforce are required
  • Increasing engagement and accessibility is imperative for increasing service usage
  • Improve data analysis, and reporting to get a better understanding of any issues
