Antenatal Classes in multiple languages | Parents Centre
Parents Centre’s Aotearoa is offering antenatal classes in Mandarin (Chinese language) and Indian languages (eg Hindi, other Fijian and Indian dialects) in Auckland and Hamilton.
Aim: To ensure parents are informed and better prepared for labour, birth and for becoming a parent, leading to better birth outcomes for mother and baby.
Learning outcomes: Parents attending the classes will:
- gain an understanding of the New Zealand maternity system
- become more familiar with key medical terms in English
- gain more knowledge to support their decision-making during their pregnancy, labour and birth
- be able to discuss and address any cultural needs during pregnancy, labour and birth.
Facilitators: led by midwives with facilitation experience to ensure the classes are fun and interactive while learning.
Antenatal classes for Indian families
These classes will be offered in Hindi, other Fijian and Indian dialects for Indian families based in Auckland.
