Screening Tools

A list of clinical assessment and screening tools in multiple languages useful for clinicians working with clients who are non-English speakers or have limited English speaking ability. The screening tools can be used as a source of collateral information when formulating a diagnosis. The best judgment relies on multiple types and sources of knowledge. When using translated screening tools, it’s important to start by having the interpreter read back to the health practitioner in English, the translated version to ensure accuracy. Screening tools can be useful for clients to chart their own progress when repeated over time. Watch for over compliance (too many yes responses) or non compliance (too many no responses) when administering screening questionnaires.
