The role of the Age Concern Asian Service is to address the challenges and meet the needs of older Chinese people living in Auckland, in collaboration with other existing Chinese agencies and groups, in order to connect the older people to the services and activities available for them to create a sense of belonging in the community.
The Asian service coordinator supports Chinese clients when accessing social services and provides language support and cultural advice to other professionals when working with older Chinese clients.
There are four independent Age Concerns in the Auckland region – Auckland, Counties Manukau, North Shore and Rodney – that are part of a nationwide network of 33 Age Concerns. All are registered charities and independently incorporated. Interpreting services are available.
