World Health Organisation’s Promoting the Health of Refugees and Migrants: Experiences From Around The World Report | eCALD® listed as one of the case studies.

This World Health Organisation publication is a compendium of 49 country case examples illustrating positive steps taken by various countries towards better health outcomes for the one billion people on the move. It showcases how countries with varying health systems and challenges and facilitators towards universal health coverage have implemented practices to promote the health of refugees and migrants.

This report is produced and published by the Health and Migration Programme in March 2023. It is part of the WHO Global Action Plan on Promoting the health of refugees and migrants at the seventy-second World Health Assembly in May 2019.

The report:

  • showcases how different countries – with varying health systems and different challenges and facilitators towards universal health coverage – have implemented practices to promote the health of refugees and migrants;
  • explores collaboration among different organizations and stakeholders, governance models and the lessons learned during the implementation of practices;
  • uses country and local experiences to support the provision of general policy considerations for the progression of health and well-being for all, including refugees, migrants and the host populations they live with.

The report is intended primarily for high-level decision-makers responsible for setting policies, strategies, and plans and for developing budgets for refugees and migrants at national and subnational levels, specialists in health financing, gender specialists, health insurance authorities, national statistical offices, monitoring specialists, advocates, researchers, consultants, and civil society organizations active in the field of refugee and migrant health.

eCALD® Services is delighted to announce that the eCALD national cultural competency training programme for health professionals working with migrants and former refugees was listed as a New Zealand example in the report. Sharing the global platform with other outstanding programmes and services is an achievement.
