SYNOPSIS

Dr Shishir Regmi is a Fellow of the UK Royal College of Psychiatrists and has worked as a Consultant in UK and NZ since 2003. He is active in training for the membership and fellowship of the Royal Colleges. Dr Regmi is committed to patient-centred practice through professionalism, innovation and research, lifelong learning, fairness and inclusion, ethical practice and multi-disciplinary working. He has worked in mental health over the last three decades in countries where formal legislation for compulsory admission and management of illness did not exist and in countries with the most advanced legislation. He will present the exploration of the use of the Mental Health Act in the countries he has worked in and his professional mental health journey from 1990 to date. He is interested in sharing his experience and discussing the scope of his review and the usefulness and impact of such legislative infrastructure. 

Dr Rajendra Pavagada, Consultant Psychiatrist, Counties-Manukau District Health Board, and CCIG Advisory Member will be facilitating this session.
