Courses for HP working with Interpreters
"Courses for health practitioners (HP) working with interpreters" provide practical skills training to work effectively with interpreters to achieve better patient outcome and experience.
The courses are intended for health practitioners working in primary, secondary and NGO services across New Zealand.
With stricter social distancing requirements as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic, there will be a greater demand to utilise remote interpreters via telephone or video conferencing to reduce close contacts. Face-to-face interpreters will still be utilised but for crucial cases. For this reason, we are providing practical skills training (Module 101 - 1.5 hour remote training) and guidelines for health practitioners to enhance their knowledge and skills to work more effectively with remote interpreters.
We also provide an e-learning course Module 4 "Working with Interpreters" which include information from Module 101 and more examples of how to work with face-to-face interpreters.
Module 4 - Working with Interpreters
Pre-requisite: none. Duration: 4 hours for face-to-face in-person; 3 hours e-learning.
NB: Alternatively you can take Module 101 Working with remote interpreters, which is a 1.5-hour remote face-to-face course delivered via zoom by an educator.
