eCALD® Services provides a suite of online and face-to-face courses which aim to develop health practitioner's CALD cultural competencies. Most of these courses are funded for the New Zealand publicly funded health and disability workforce through the Ministry of Health.

Eligibility

Select a region below to find out more about who is eligible for funded courses.

The New Zealand publicly funded health and disability workforce are eligible for free face-to-face and online CALD Cultural Competency "Courses for Working with CALD Patients" and face-to-face "Courses for Culturally Diverse Workplaces", if they work for:

  • Public, primary and secondary health and disability services funded by Waitemata DHB, Auckland DHB, Counties Manukau DHB or the Ministry of Health
  • Non-government organisations (NGO) in the Auckland region
  • Northern Regional Alliance Ltd
  • Ministry of Health

Funding is provided by the New Zealand Ministry of Health as part of the Asian, Migrant and Refugee Health Action Programme.

If you are eligible for the funded courses, and:

  • do not have an account with eCALD®, Click Login to register and enrol into the pre-requisite course;
  • have an account with eCALD®, click Login to enrol for course(s) of your choice.

The New Zealand publicly funded health and disability workforce working outside of the Auckland region can access free Auckland-based scheduled face-to-face courses and online courses for CALD Cultural Competency "Courses for Working with Patients"(funded by the Ministry of Health). 

If you are eligible for the funded courses, and:

  • do not have an account with eCALD®, Click Login and to register and enrol into the pre-requisite course;

  • have an account with eCALD®, Click Login to enrol for course(s) of your choice.

Enrolment / Bookings - Funded Courses

Select one of the options below to find out more about how to register and enrol for eCALD® courses.

For Counties Manukau DHB and Auckland DHB employees

You need to enrol for free face-to-face CALD courses via your own DHB's Learning & Development system. For online CALD courses you can enrol via eCALD® learning management system using the following process.

For everyone else who is eligible for face to face and online courses

Please follow the following process: If you are enrolling for a course for the first time, you need to register as an eCALD® user, then enrol for "CALD 1 - Cultural Competency Course" (this is a pre-requisite for eCALD® courses).

To Register

  1. Click Login located on the Top Menu Bar
  2. Click the Register button, the register page will display
  3. Type your organisation's name (partial or in full), e.g. Procare or Procare PHO. A list of matching organisation's names will be displayed
  4. If you find your organisation's name, e.g. Procare PHO Grafton, select the organisation's name and a registration form will be displayed
  5. If you can't find your organisation's name, you can fill in a new Registration Form (a hyperlink located below the Search function)
  6. Complete the online registration form. Enter your work-related email e.g. name@procare.co.nz or name@adhb.govt.nz. Please enter your work email address, otherwise your enrolment will need to be confirmed with the organisation you work with.
  7. Read and accept the eCALD® Terms and Conditions, then the Course Enrolment Form will display


To complete the Course Enrolment Form

  1. Select from the drop down box the course of your choice. A list of available Auckland-based CALD 1 face-to-face and online course(s) will be displayed for you to select
  2. Enter your Approving Manager/Supervisor’s full name and work-related email address (not a personal email address). Your approving manager will receive an auto email confirming your course enrolment.
    Note: It is your responsibility to inform your Approving Manager about your course enrolment
  3. Click SUBMIT to complete the process


What will happen after you have completed the Registration and Enrolment

  • eCALD Admin will verify your registration and course enrolment within 5 working days unless delayed by unforeseen circumstances
  • eCALD Admin has the discretion and right to decline your registration and enrolment if:
    • the information you provided are incorrect;
    • your organisation or you are not eligible to access the funded courses;
    • you are not complying with eCALD® Terms and Conditions


If your Registration and Enrolment have been approved

  • You will receive an auto email confirming your registration and your course enrolment


If your Registration and Enrolment have been declined

You will receive an email notifying you of your declined registration.

 

For Counties Manukau DHB and Auckland DHB employees

If you wish to enrol for further free face-to-face CALD courses, you need to enrol via your DHB's Learning & Development system. For online CALD courses you can enrol via the eCALD® learning management system using the following process.

  1. Log in to your account by entering your Username (email address) and your Password. 
    If you have forgotten your password, Click FORGOT PASSWORD
  2. Select from the drop-down box the course of your choice. A list of available Auckland-based CALD face-to-face and online course(s) will be displayed for you to select
  3. Enter your Approving Manager/Supervisor’s full name and work-related email address (not a personal email address). Your approving manager will receive an auto email confirming your course enrolment. 
    Note: It is your responsibility to inform your Approving Manager about your course enrolment
  4. Click SUBMIT to complete the process

What will happen after you have completed the Enrolment

  • CALD Admin will verify your course enrolment within 5 working days unless delayed by unforeseen circumstances
  • CALD Admin has the discretion and right to decline your registration and enrolment if:
    • the information you provided are incorrect;
    • your organisation or you are not eligible to access the funded courses;
    • you are not complying with eCALD® Terms and Conditions

If your Enrolment has been approved

You will receive an auto-email confirmation of your course enrolment details.

If your Enrolment has been declined

You will receive an auto email notifying you of your declined enrolment.

  1. Click Login located on the Top Menu Bar
  2. Log in to your account by entering your Username <email address> and your Password. 
    Note: If you have forgotten your password, Click on FORGOT PASSWORD
  3. When you are in your account, you can go to ONLINE STUDY to check the approval status.
  4. If your Course has been approved, the page will give you the status "PENDING TO COMPLETE" with the COURSE EXPIRY DATE and DAYS LEFT TO COMPLETE THE COURSE.

 

Enrolment / Bookings - Non-funded Courses

If you are not eligible for CALD Cultural Competency "Courses for Working with Patients" courses but would still like to enrol for a face-to-face scheduled course(s) or an online course(s), please email eCALD Admin.

  • Cost of individual enrolment for scheduled face-to-face courses or online CALD 1, 2, 3, 4, 7, 8,10 courses: $200 + GST per enrolment
  • Cost of individual enrolment for scheduled face-to-face courses or online CALD 5, 9 courses: $300 + GST per enrolment
  • Online courses can be undertaken anywhere in New Zealand, at work or at home at your convenience

Note: To get the best out of your online study please ensure the computer or devices you are using meet the Minimum System Requirements detailed under FAQs section.

To book a face-to-face course for a group of participants for your organisation to be held in Auckland or outside of Auckland, please email eCALD Admin to arrange a date and time for a facilitator.

  • Cost for face-to-face CALD 1, 2, 3, 4, 7, or 8 courses: $2,200 + GST per course
  • Cost for face-to-face CALD 5 or 9 courses: $3,200 + GST per course

The face-to-face course fee only covers the cost of the facilitator, workbooks, handouts, certificates and the provision of a post course evaluation report. Venue and catering if required will be the responsibility of course requesters.

For the provision of face-to-face courses outside of Auckland courses: there will be additional charges to the course requester which will include flights, accommodation, ground transport and meals incurred by trainers.


Face-to-Face CALD Course Cancellation Policy

This policy applies to course requesters who have placed an order for a face-to-face course for a group of participants for an agreed date, time and venue at the agreed price. Course cancellation must be advised 2 weeks before the course start date to avoid a late cancellation fee. Late cancellation with less than 2 weeks notice will require the course requester to pay the full cost of the booked course to eCALD® Services, Waitemata DHB.
